REVIEW: slow paced; very leisurely; a mix of religious and cultural voyage;
recommended for people interested in the north's age-old churches

ITINERARY:

DAY 01 Manila-Clark--Sta. Fe-Bayombong - Banaue
We'll assemble in EDSA Shrine at dawn and travel to meet the other caravan groups in Clark. Upon entering the province of Nueva Vizcaya, we'll bring you to Dupax del Sur Church, one of the biggest and oldest church (14th century) in the Cagayan Valley. The church has all the requisites of an old Spanish brick church like wooden altar, columns and lattices. From there, we'll proceed to Bayombong Capitol for lunch, the trade fair nearby, then to breathtaking 8th Wonder of the World, the Ifugao Rice Terraces.

DAY 02 Banaue - Bagabag - Ilagan
See the Missionary House in Banaue's Poblacion then visit the Ifugao tribes' Hapao Village. After which, proceed to Balintocatoc Calvary Hills for the Station of the Cross in Santiago City; then to Guibang Church in Gamu, Isabela where the miraculous Lady of the Visitation of Guibang is enshrined.

DAY 03 Ilagan - Tuguegarao
Visit the St. Mathias Church in Tumauini, Isabela which was built in 1752 with this ultra baroque church unique for its wall finishing and ornamentation of baked clay. Its architecture also bears Chinese ancestry and has a cylindrical belfry - the only one of its kind in the Philippines. After which, we'll bring you to the San Pablo Church believed to have the tallest belltower in the Cagayan Valley Region. Before the day ends, we'll attend the Holy Mass at the St. Peter's Cathedral in Tuguegarao City.

DAY 04 Tuguegarao - Peñablanca-Tuguegarao
See the Iguig Church built in 1607 set against the backdrop of the mighty Cagayan River, as well as the life-sized depiction of the Station of the Cross amidst the 11-hectare rolling hills. In Peñablanca, commune with nature as you explore the complex cave system of the Callao Caves and watch the Circadian Flight of Bats at dusk.

DAY 05 Tuguegarao - Manila
Home sweet home? Not just yet. Let us all give our thanks as we bring everyone to Our Lady of Piat's shrine, known as the pilgrimage center of the northeast. This almost four-centuries old image of Mary was first enshrined in Nueva Segovia or Lal-lo, and was supposedly brought from Macao to the country in 1604 by the Dominican Friars. The image is famous in the country and abroad as the Black Mary.
