Kadayawan sa Dabaw (August 18-21)
Davao CIty, Southern Mindanao

The Kadayawan sa Dabaw is a festival of thanksgiving for bountiful harvest of fruits and flowers and a tribute to the colorful tribes in Exotic Mindanao. The celebration interfaces three aspects: Tribal, Industrial Arts, and Entertainment. It is also highlighted by Float parade of flowers/ fruits and streetdancing and horsefight and other cultural presentations.

Kalibongan Festival (August 14)
Kidapawan City, Cotabato

Northern Mindanao's ethnic tribes gather for a Grand Festival. Activities include: horsefight, blood compact ceremony, conferment of royal titles, trade fair, games, cultural shows and tribal wedding.

Pilgrimage to Joroan (August 18)
Joroan, Tiwi, Albay

Devotees pay homage to Nuestra Señora de Salvacion, patroness of Albay. After the morning Mass, menfolk carry the miraculous image to the beach where a lavishly decorated trawl boat is docked. A fluvial procession follows.

Balagtasan sa Nayon (August 25)
Nayong Pilipino, Pasay City, Metro Manila

Elementary and high school students from public and private schools in Metro Manila engage in a traditional debate competition using Tagalog poetry. The annual debate in poetry tone aims to reintroduce this tradition as a popular form of entertainment in the past.

Balik Butuan 2001 (August)
Butuan City

An opportunity for all Butuanon residing abroad and other parts of the country to come home and reunite with old friends and relatives especially during the Balanghay Festival and Adlaw Hong Butuan celebration.
